Yugoslavian made bolt action military rifle chambered in 8mm Mauser, imported by Cherry's Fine Guns out of Greensboro, NC. The M48s without a 'M48' suffix on the receiver ring were manufactured between late 1950 and early 1952, and the features of this rifle suggest that it was manufactured within this date range. Rifle features a nitrate blued/black finish, smooth turned down in-the-white bolt handle, in-the-white bolt, an approximately 24" barrel, smooth curved trigger, stripper clip guides cut into receiver, left receiver rail bolt release, hooded inverted 'V' front sight, tangent style rear sight graduated to 2000 meters, bayonet lug, milled trigger guard, and manual flag type safety. The furniture consists of a smooth semi-pistol grip hardwood shoulder stock, smooth handguard and forend, sling slot in the buttstock, sling loop on the rear barrel band, milled lower band, 'H' style barrel band, and smooth steel in-the-white butt plate. The serial numbers (K19323) match on the receiver, magazine floorplate, stock, and bolt handle. Receiver ring is marker with the Yugoslavian crest and 'M48'. Proof marks can be found on the bottom of the pistol grip. The left receiver rail is marked with a Cyrillic lettered word and the number '44', which translates to 'Factory 44'. The original nitrate black finish retained is approximately 90% with general thinning, some scattered scratches, and edge wear. Metal displays no deformation, but there was light rust observed on the butt plate, and on the rear of the trigger guard. The action is smooth and crisp, and the bore is bright with strong rifling. Furniture wood is good with superficial handling marks, small dents, 1-1/2" crack on the top of the shoulder stock, and a small piece of the stock may be lifting at the tang (it's hard to tell).
Condition is NRA Good.
